Bio:

Vancouver pioneer photographer, Harry Devine, was born in Manchester, England, and worked as a photographer in Brandon, Manitoba before moving to Vancouver with J. A. Brock in April of 1886 to establish J.A. Brock & Co. Devine "took most of the early celebrated scenic photographs of Vancouver, both before and after the great fire of June 13th 1886, including one showing City Council holding a meeting in front of a tent “City Hall”; the police force of four before same tent, and a panorama of the city from S.E. cor. Carrall and Cordova streets, showing Vancouver in ashes, 14 June 1886." Aged 59.
